VOTE TODAY! For your favorite beds.

VOTE TODAY! For your favorite beds.

In this election season, mebl | Transforming Furniture is extending its platform into beds.  Help elect your top candidates! What these beds all have in common is reclaimed wood and high-quality craftsmanship. Where they differ in design, style, comfort, functionality and origin of the reclaimed materials.

Submit your top 3 choices here. Jot a few words telling us why.

For each vote, we'll donate $10 to Brooklyn Woods (@bklynwoods), which trains unemployed and low-income New Yorkers, facing barriers to employment, looking for a new career in woodworking.

Option 1: Lorne Point Messmate Bed

"A classic bed with a modern twist.  Recycled Messmate timber was hand-picked to be rich in flowing grain patterns and sap lines.  The sides were designed to be visually lighter to balance out the heaviness of the bed head and foot. All aspects of the bed, including the slats, are made from reclaimed solid hardwood timber ensuring that the piece will last the test of time."

Bombora Custom Furniture, Torquay, Australia

Option 2: IDLIPAN Bed

"Designed to be viewed from all angles, the ebony and amboyna burl inlays extend all around the bed. The backrest is made from various species of reclaimed wood; the bed frame is from a yakal beam and the slats are made from ipil. It has legs made from molave and bracing made from balayong."

Benji Reyes, Antipolo, Philippines

Option 3: IKAN

"A stylish, modern storage collection, the Ikan is comprised of reclaimed Teak headboard and drawers which sit inside a natural iron frame. As a brand, we are inspired by nature and committed to preserving the environment by creating designs that breathe new life into reclaimed materials.  We balance low emissions manufacturing with an eye for urban design."

From the Source, New York, New York

Option 4: Modern Rustic Platform Bed

"Sleep soundly and sustainably, surrounded by finely crafted, solid-wood construction.  The dramatic  slatted headboard is long and sturdy, the foot bench is great for storage.  This bed features exposed, end grain storage seating -- made of 100% heart pine from reclaimed bowling lanes."

CounterEv Furniture, Kingston, New York

Option 5: Raw and Reclaimed

"Our Raw and Reclaimed bed is a simple and clean platform frame that is made to add a feeling of warmth and serenity to your bedroom.  Made of reclaimed Antique Pine beams from old NYC buildings, each bed tells many stories of history and has a unique character.  It will age with grace and patina over time. The shape of the bed is very rectilinear, geometric, and sleek, playing a nice contrast to the old charactered wood.  The frame has the appearance of floating on top of four rolling storage drawers."

IN.SEK, Brooklyn, New York

Option 6: Milepost Bed (No. 67)

"Designed as a post bed with headboard and footboard, the strong industrial grade materials provide a solid look to the simple style of this bed.  The bed features a footboard wide enough to serve as a bench for getting ready in the morning.  On the railroad, milepost markers provide reference points along a route. The numbers typically increase going away from the original headquarters location of the railroad."

Railyard Studios, Nashville, Tennessee

Option 7: Modern Reclaimed Wood Bed

"Rustic meets modern. This bed is made from reclaimed old growth oak, maple, and pine. Each bed shows off its own unique history with knots, color variations, and natural imperfections.  Our wood is 100+ years old-growth wood harvested from torn-down Midwestern barns. Reclaimed wood’s beauty is in its variation. None of this effects the structural stability of the furniture. No two pieces of wood are alike, which makes each piece of handcrafted furniture one-of-a-kind."

What We Make, Algonquin, Illinois

Option 8: Harmony Bed

"The solid-wood Harmony Bed is built from oak, reclaimed from used wine barrels, casks and tanks from the Western Cape Wine region of South Africa. We extend the life of this heritage Oak, preserving its unique character and history through transformation into furniture. Vinwood is located central to the winelands that ensure access to our source of recycled wine Oak."

Vinwood, Cape Town, South Africa
